About The Event
The Our Father is probably the most well-known prayer in the Christian tradition. It is in the Sermon of the Mount, Matthew 6:9-13. We find a similar prayer in Luke 11:2-4. It is called the Lord’s Prayer because it was Jesus’ response to his apostle’s request for instructions on how to pray. We will explore the Jewish origins of this prayer. Because Aramaic is Jesus’ native language, he taught and spoke in Aramaic, the Lord’s prayer was composted in Aramaic. We will have the opportunity to hear the prayer in Aramaic and Jesus would have said it to his apostles.
